European funding for digital health: my experience

When it comes to innovation, digital health is a central issue. Indeed, the development programmes of the European Union are no exception: Pillar 2 of Cluster 1 of the Horizon Europe programme is completely dedicated to the subject and opens up interesting opportunities for all companies operating in the field of health innovation.

The consulting company NeroSuBianco, with whom I have been working for a long time, is following several digital health projects which I am directly involved in.

My work with San Camillo IRCCS hospital

My collaboration with SAN CAMILLO IRCCS hospital involves the scouting of networking and funding opportunities at the European level, through the creation of synergies with research centres of excellence at the international level.

Specifically, we are supporting the team of researchers at the hospital that are active in research and development projects in the health field, especially with regard to data collection and use of artificial intelligence for the treatment of neurological diseases.

So, my job is to look for possible projects that are being built around digital health projects. After the scouting process, I work to create synergies between researchers, potential partners, and project coordinators to open funding opportunities.

The Digital Innovation Hub & Digital Health project

Another interesting project in the field of digital health is the Digital Innovation Hub and Digital Health: a network of companies active in the field of innovation and health. With the NeroSuBianco team we are managing the entire project, with the aim of creating concrete and tangible forms of cooperation between the various stakeholders.

In particular, we are coordinating a network of 32 hubs and organisations, which promote technological innovation in healthcare at the European level, creating a dialogue between partners to identify possible synergies and opportunities for collaboration.

For example, we have identified the possibility for partners to participate in a series of European calls within Horizon Europe.

The Liguria Region and the Life Sciences Cluster

The third project sees us working with the Liguria Region and the Cluster for Life Sciences, again with scouting activities and research funding at the European level.

The Cluster is a hub consisting of cutting-edge laboratories, shared technology platforms, spaces for businesses and co-working environments. It is a project shared and supported by various companies: our job is to talk to these companies, identify their needs and create possible partnerships at the European level with partners or consortia working in those themes.

Why contact an expert in the field

All innovation projects in the health sector that we are following are linked by the use of certain technologies, in particular the implementation of artificial intelligence, telemedicine tools, and technology for the collection and analysis of data.

For all companies with projects of this type, the opportunities are numerous!

It is, however, essential to turn to professionals with experience in European design and project management that can help the company find the best path to follow.

My job is to use my know-how to help the company find the right way through the various opportunities and through the mechanisms of the European Union.
